I am a plant collector by trade. Most of my work has been the procurement of dried plant material for scientific research -- about half for cancer research done by the US Government. After first getting my feet wet in Southern Mexico and Honduras for two summers during college I was then sent to the jungles of Peru in 1965 to collect native medicinal plants being screened by the Pitmann Moore Division of Dow Chemical Company. Most of my plant work through the years has been in Latin America.
In 1981 my wife and I led a small group tour on a 16 day adventure through Peru. Since then I have led an average of about one tour a year (usually just one country per tour). I'm not the guide but rather go along to make sure that our guides, hotels, coaches, and yachts, etc. do a good job.
Over the years, we have done: Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Yucatan MX, Copper Canyon MX, Ecuador, Peru Highlights (our most popular tour), Bolivia, Brazil, Guatemala, Baja California Norte MX, Fjords of Chile, Chile Highlights, Chilean Resorts, North Peru, Trans-continental So Am, and "The Other Side of Peru". In the future we hope to do Central Peru (May 2010), Honduras, Panama, Chiapas/Oaxaca MX, Colombia, Andean markets, Baja California Sur MX, and other Latin American countries.
In addition to seeing the important offerings of a country, Lifebound Tours provides local reality. A clean bed to sleep in and delicious food, but most importantly, adventure is served up!
