About Us |
For over 25 years, the Pomona Inland Valley Martin Luther King, Jr. Project has honored more than 90 students who have made a significant impact in their communities. Formely known as the Pomona Inland Valley MLK, Jr. Committee, the Project’s vision is to address the needs of these local students to obtain their educational goals. Following the late Reverend King’s vision of social justice reform, the Project prides itself in following those principles and contining the struggle for our young minds.
We look for role models in our communities that we serve and honor them for their dedication and commitment to the work and life of Reverend King. Thanks to his vision of social justice our society has become more diverse and integrated. His leadership and struggle allowed for many young adults to take a bold stance against injustice and make a difference in our society.
Every year, the Sunday before the MLK holiday the Project prides itself in hosting the MLK Celebration. At the celebration, students are recognized by being awarded the MLK Social Justice Award. Students who wish to be considered for this award can download a copy of the application here. If you are interested in joining the Project’s mission please feel free to contact Gayle Claiborne, Chair of the Board of Directors at (951) 218-7820 or via email at info@pivmlk.org for further information.
