WHERE ARE THE JOBS? EVENT

What are the fastest-growing careers for women 45-plus? How do they answer the challenge to re-invent themselves in the new economy? Where do these women get the training, counseling and support they need to thrive?

“For career women 45-plus who are finding themselves laid off, underemployed or contemplating career transitions in mid-life, re-inventing can seem daunting,” says Jane Glenn Haas, founder of WomanSage, a nonprofit for women at midlife. To showcase one of the county’s greatest assets for these women, Re- Invent Yourself, a philanthropy of WomanSage, will host a presentation on finding and training for new careers after age 45.

The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m.Tuesday, Sept.1, at the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa, 2220 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. Presenters at the event are Ann Marshall, Isabelle Krasney and Michi Yoshii. Ann Marshall, Labor Market Consultant, with the Employment Development Department, has specialized in workforce preparation and labor market intelligence for more than two decades. She will share her real-world experience in identifying Orange County’s emerging industry and career trends.

Isabelle Krasney, Corporate Relations Executive, Orange County One-Stop Center, will provide insights into why the “One-Stop Center is the best kept secret in Orange County.” Michi Yoshii, Workforce Specialist, Orange County One- Stop Center, will share her advice and guidance to job seekers who are embarking on a new career. Reservations are required for this meeting which will outline all the resources available to midlife women job seekers to enhance their career search.

The event is open to women 45-plus. Light refreshments will be served. Cost for the evening is $10 for WomanSage members and $20 for non-members, payable at the door. Reservations are non-refundable and no-shows will be billed. To make a reservation, contact (949) 222-4210.
